Group Ride Guidelines
General Guidelines
Organized rides should have a Ride Leader and Caboose.
The Ride Leader is responsible for navigation, other riders should generally refrain from passing them unless otherwise discussed to prevent confusion.
The Caboose should remain at the back of the group and coordinate with the Ride Leader to ensure that the entire group stays together. Riders should do their best to stay ahead of the Caboose, and voice their concerns if they are struggling with any issues.
Riders who are departing early from the ride should notify either the Ride Leader or Caboose so that they can keep track of who is supposed to be with the group.
Riders should stay in single file on mixed use paths and single lane roads.
Fast chargers (5A+) are highly recommended for group rides with a planned charging spot.
If the group is planning on using EV (car) chargers for an event, make sure your charger supports 220V input.
If you also own an EV (J1772) adapter, please bring it! The more outlets we have available, the better.
For Large Groups (8+)
Large groups should split into sub-groups of around 4 when mixing with traffic on single lane roads. This will allow vehicles to pass the group in sections instead of trying to speed past the whole group at once.
Riders may be asked to stop traffic at intersections to prevent the group from being split up. Traffic should not be held up excessively if there is a large gap already present in the group, but the rider blocking traffic should stay at the intersection until the entire group has passed to avoid adding to the gap.
Large groups should avoid filtering at red lights when on single lane roads where traffic is traveling faster than the group to avoid forcing cars to repeatedly overtake the group. This is largely up the discretion of the Ride Leader and riders should follow their guidance.
